East Asian MEDICINE

   Board of Directors 2022

Maile McKain, LAc - President

Park City, UT 84060

I’m an acupuncturist, herbalist, educator, and absolute believer that healing is always possible. My life is creating and running a private Chinese medicine practice (Stillpoint Healing Center), with over 500 clients, developing an online community to teach and lead seasonal cleansing (Jiva), raising my daughter, spending quality time with my husband, and living a mountain town lifestyle (five pairs of skis anyone??).I am utterly dedicated to the practice of Chinese medicine, Eastern medicine, or as many people are now calling it, World Medicine.  As my experience as a practitioner grows, I am finding that the range of people and the conditions for which they are seeking help is expanding.

Lisa Taylor-Swanson, PhD, MAcOM, LAc - Vice President

Dr. Lisa J. Taylor-Swanson is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. A dual-trained clinician-scientist, Taylor-Swanson received her PhD in nursing science from the University of Washington and a Master’s degree in acupuncture and & oriental medicine (MAcOM) from Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine. She is a Licensed Acupuncturist with specialty training in women’s health, primarily infertility and the menopausal transition, and previously owned and operated a large private practice for over 15 years. Since joining the tenure-line faculty at Utah, Dr. Taylor-Swanson’s lab has investigated symptom appraisal and experience, including interoceptive awareness, using a complexity lens. She is presently investigating Chinese herbal medicine for the treatment of symptoms that may be related to COVID-19 and is developing an acupuncture and integrative group medical visit (AGMV) tailored for symptom clusters (pain, hot flashes; sleep, mood, and cognitive problems) experienced by peri- and post-menopausal women.

Alethea Jones, LAc - Treasurer

Alethea Healing Acupuncture.com

Holladay, UT 84109

801.988.5898

Alethea Jones is a Utah State Licensed Acupuncturist.  She received her Master’s Degree training in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Tx.

Originally from New England, Alethea’s journey with natural therapies, herbalism, and energetic healing began in her teens when she began questioning western medicine’s approach to alleviating symptoms.  With a deep interest of preventative medicine she discovered yoga, herbalism, organic foods, and meditation.  Years later her interest of homeopathic care would lead her to Acupuncture and Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM).

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Alethea found resonance with the TEAM bridge recognizing the health of the being is intricately linked to the health of one’s environment and surroundings.  It is this connection she strives to make in both clinical practice and her daily decisions.  With this knowing, she believes that balance can be restored to not only the homeostasis of one’s being but to the ecosystems and planet we inhabit.

After providing more than 3,000 sessions in a few years, Alethea Healing Acupuncture opened in December of 2018.  Her office is located near Holladay center and focuses on physical and emotional pain, acute and chronic injuries, immune boosting, digestion, hormone regulation, and more.
